I see its still quiet here.  But thats okay, I know you're all still lurking on the fringes.  Had to work all week, and finished it off by going to do a few go-kart races -- in which I came in dead last! Go me!  Slammed myself into a wall real hard and now I am sore. LOL

Anyway.  Tutorials 3&4 coming this week for sure.

Whats everyone doing with the toolset so far?  I've been pecking away at Grim's Tavern II.  I just wanna build something to test on this server that was offered to me.  Looks good so far.  Not really having a problem with anything, but the filesize with 12 areas (only 3 interior).

Westshield City (16x16)
Southern Highway (12 x 24)
Westshield Graveyard (12x12)
Baron's Woods (16x16)
Baron's Hill (8 x 8)
Temple Point (12 x 16)
Writer's Field (12 x 12)
Corwick's Pass (12 x 12)

The interiors are nothing in size.  But the entirety is 220MB.  Crazy.  But going to push the limits and see what happens.  If its too big (41 Exterior areas planned - EST 1.02GB) I will cut it down.

Edit: LOL, thought I lost the message with the back button.  But instead posted.  Edited to finish my thoughts.

Well,
Cerea Island 2 is "nearing" Beta stage (Currently estimated to be at 64% of that)

Current plan is to get the public beta testing started the weekend of 4-5th November.

The current Alpha build (124) is 6 large and very detailed outside areas and 18 mostly smaller inside areas and is 225 mb in size. The Terrain files alone are 125mb (50mb compressed) so the required download sizes for people will be large.

The "start beta" build has a goal of 7 outside areas and 30 inside areas along with 50 scripted quests.

Also the base systems are mostly starting to take shape(as we will use a lot of custom systems)

Our outside areas range from 16*16 to 24*24 in size.

Anyone factoring Lanessar's guidelines of...

"You've got the following as viable for a PW with 20 or so players:

Two 16x16 areas, 10 8x8 areas, exteriors.

Two hundred interiors."

...into their development plans?

No.

In fact, based on the system specs/connection of the server someone is letting me use -- we're going to TRY to push 64 people and see what happens.  No harm in trying.

It should be interesting to see how much of Lanessar's estimates are theoretical, and how much actual, based on the MP beta test.  Though his commentary was based on conjecture, some of it did seem to have some certainty behind it only live testing could account for.

No as well,

I think we will all start with as large of outdoor areas as possible and shrink them till we find the best results.  I would never create an 8X8 area if a 12x12 area works.

Anyone know how to copy an instance of a creature into a blueprint?  I have a creature I created (a hobgoblin), I just plopped him down to edit him on a map and want to transfer him back to the blueprint.  Anyone know how to do this?

I can't remember the exact steps off the top of my head at the moment...only tried it once back on release but this tutorial might help.  Haven't had a chance to read it yet.  It's how to make NPCs but the process should be similar to creatures as well.
