I have to protect tavorick because he has a shard... well i killed imps and succubus's or whatever but as soon as there dead i cant do anything.. i walked around everywhere and talked to everyone and I cant do anything... its stupid.. i cant talk to the captain because he says stuff about killing demons or whatever.. is this a glitch or am i missing something

Did you check on Tavorick? If the combat is finished on the first floor, you should have been alerted to screams on the second floor. When you get to his room there should be some Imps attacking him. You might have missed the pop up.
